Blackheads develop when the opening of a hair follicle becomes clogged or plugged. The follicle can become cloggged when dead skin cells mixed with sebum oil that sabaceous glands produce and bacteria. This mixture collects in the opening of the follicle and creates a bump. When this bump opens, air exposure casues the sebum mixture to look black. This type of acne typically forms on the chin, nose, forehead, back, and chest.
Whiteheads develop in the same way as blackhead: when dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria become trapped within a pore. But, the bump that forms from the mixture in the pores does not open, creating a white pimple. Whiteheads can form anywhere on the body.
Papules, often called skin lesions, are small areas of abnormal skin usually about 1cm around. The three common types of papules are dermatitis, chicken pox, and eczema. Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin and can be made up of small papule clusters together. Chicken pox form from the varicellazoster virus and create extremely itchy papules on the skin. Eczema is scaly rashes, blisters, and extremely dry skin that can be formed of small papules.

Pustules develop when your skin becomes irritated as a result of an allergic reaction or acne. These small bumps contain fluid and white blood cellls or pus due to an infection of the pore cavity and tend to form on the back, chest, and face, and often cluster in the same areas on the skin
Cysts form in the same way as pustules, but when a pustule becomes hard and painful it is known as a cyst. When multiple cysts are found on the skin, it is called cystic acne. A cyst is a pocket filled with membranous tissue that is a mixture of fluid and other substances and can grow anywhere on the body, even below the subcutaneous tissue. Cysts can be cancerous and become painful when they become too large, infected, or are growing on and affecting the function of an organ. Types of cysts:
Forms around the hair follicle on the skin.
Forms within sebatious glands.
Forms near joints on hands, wrists, feet, and ankles.
Forms when a follicle that releases an egg in the ovary does not open causing fluid to build up.
Form when breast fluid collects near the breast gland.
Cysts that occur on eyelids when the oil gland duct is blocked.
Form near the top, middle part of the buttocks.
Nodules form by over using part of one's body. They develop just below the skin and in deeper skin tissues or internal organs. They are similar to calluses. Types of nodules:
Overuse or misuse of the voice often causes them. Stomach acid irritating your voice box is another possible cause.
Occur when lymph nodes work too hard to fight diseases in the body. Show up in the armpits, neck, head, or groin region.
Occur due to inflammation in the lung. Typically they are between a half of a centimeter and three centimeters. If they are any larger then they are more likely to be cancerous.
Occur when normal thyroid tissue overgrows.
